February was CHD Awareness Month

February was CHD Awareness Month, and we would like to keep up some facts we had posted about congenital heart defects in order to continue to educate and bring awareness about this very serious disease.

  • Congenital heart defects is America's #1 birth defect.  1 out of every 100 babies is born with a CHD.
  • CHD's are the leading cause of all infant deaths is the US.
  • There are more than 40 types of CHD's and there is no known cure for any of them.
  • In the US, twice as many children die from CHD's each year than from all forms of childhood cancer combined, yet funding for pediatric cancer research is 5 times higher than for CHD.
Wondering what you can do to help?
Spread awareness, talk about any child/family you know whose lives have been affected by CHD, and help support the research to fight for every heart warrior and heart angel.

Let's give hope.
